Chris Mather Obituary, Death – It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Christopher Mather, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, coach, and friend from Tara, Ontario. Chris peacefully left this world on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 43, surrounded by his loving family. His life was marked by unwavering love, dedication, and a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Chris was a devoted husband to Natalie (Kerr) and a proud father to his sons, Grayson and Tucker. His children were the center of his universe; he was a father who supported, encouraged, and loved them unconditionally. Those close to him remember him as someone who always put family first, whose actions were driven by a desire to provide and protect.
Born and raised in Meaford, Ontario, Chris was the son of Cheryl (Doran) Mather and Brian (Lydia) Mather. He is survived by his younger brother Steve (Emily Clemmer), along with Steve’s children Maverick and Nora. Chris’s family also includes his Nanny, Lois Mather, and Natalie’s parents, Murray and Ann Kerr, as well as her brother Eric (Angela) Kerr and their children Kayla (Taylor), Dylan, Avery, Bradley, and Ryleigh. His extended family, friends, and countless community members remember him as a kind-hearted, generous soul who always extended a helping hand.
Beyond his family, Chris was deeply involved in his community, especially through his role as a coach for the Tara Twins Minor Softball team. His dedication to coaching and mentoring young players earned him respect and admiration from parents, players, and fellow coaches alike. The Tara Twins organization mourns his loss profoundly, recognizing his contributions both on and off the field.

Chris Mather passed away after a long battle with cancer. His commitment to the team and the community was unwavering, and he will be sorely missed.”
The community is coming together to celebrate Chris’s life and legacy. A memorial service will be held at the Tara Curling Club on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. A heartfelt service of remembrance will take place at 3 p.m., providing family, friends, and community members an opportunity to share stories, memories, and pay tribute to a man who touched so many lives.
In honor of Chris’s memory and to assist his young sons, a trust fund has been established to provide for Grayson and Tucker’s future education. Contributions can be made payable to Natalie Mather and mailed to the family. The community’s support and compassion during this difficult time are greatly appreciated as they navigate life after this tremendous loss.
